About the Tournament
Welcome to the 2026 edition of the MD/WV Mountain Cup Invitational Golf Tournament. This is a team event with 28 golfers split into two teams of 14 (MD-WV). The event will take place May 28, 29 and 31, 2026. The host site will be King Valley Golf Course.
Maryland is trying to rebound from a 20-6 loss at Champion Lakes Golf Course last year (Results | MD / WV Mountain Cup). See last year’s event highlights below.
This event is a competition between golfers from Maryland and West Virginia. The golfers range from low to mid-handicap levels with a balance that will produce an exciting event.
All proceeds after the tournament will be donated equally between Samaritan’s Purse, Wounded Warrior Project and to local nonprofits.
The Format
The team format will start on May 28 with tee times starting at noon. The format for May 28 will be four-ball with all 28 golfers competing.
The team format will continue May 29 with tee times starting at 10:30 am. The format for May 29 will be 2-man scramble for the first 9 holes and Shamble for the second 9 holes with all 28 golfers competing.
The final day of the competition will begin on May 31 with single matches. Tee times will begin at 8 am with all 28 golfers competing.
The team that reaches 14.5 points by the conclusion of the competition will win the 2026 MD/WV Mountain Cup. Each team member will receive a trophy, and the captain will retain the MD/WV Mountain Cup for a year.
